We had our bathroom remodeled by Build It Right Carpentry and were very pleased with the results. Brian, the company owner, was fantastic throughout the entire process. When he came out to give an estimate, he was right on time and spent time taking measurements, answering my questions, and offering suggestions when I asked for his opinion. Once we decided to go with his company, Brian arranged for his contractors to come out so they could price out the work. He met the contractors and me at the arranged time and they were all very timely. Once everything was priced, Brian set up a schedule online so I could view what work was going to be done and when. Brian was on site during the job much of the time and was phenomenal at keeping me updated and answering my questions throughout the project. Anytime I emailed him with a question, Brian got back to me extremely fast (most of the time it was within the hour, but never longer than 12 hours). We had one issue of a contractor accidently putting a small scratch in our marble vanity top when installing a faucet and when I made Brian aware of it, he got back to me immediately saying he would talk to his contractor. When I got home from work the next day, the scratch was gone. Brian had hired a solid surface repair specialist to sand and polish the scratch out. I was very impressed as this was done the day after the scratch occured. The finished bathroom looks great! Brian has earned my trust and Build It Right Carpentry will be the company I call for any future remodeling jobs.

We were very satisfied with the results of our project and would highly recommend Brian and his subcontractors for any remodeling work. Brian was very professional and was responsive to all of our concerns/input on schedules and décor ideas. Brian and his subs were very skilled and their work quality was excellent. All of the crew were friendly and showed respect for our home as they were completing their work.

We needed an extensive remodeling of our only bathroom right down to the studs and structure. Since we are rather new in town, the first problem was finding a reasonable, effective (quick), and thoughtful (creative) general contractor.
Fortunately, through the YMCA, I’d come to know quite well the owner of a well-established HVAC company in town. He knew someone perfect for the job: his brother-in-law, Brian Blankenheim, owner of Build-It-Right Construction.
I was very impressed right from the first phone call. Brian set up a simple procedure protocol, the first of which was to meet with my wife and me to inspect the site and ask us for our ideas and plans. At that meeting, he also set up an on-line demolition/building (sub-contractor) schedule.
Since I needed to keep costs down, Brian suggested a number of jobs I could do and gave tips to expedite them. My numerous phone calls were answered quickly, in a detailed manner, and with assurance — it was nice to know “he had my back.” His integrity was reflected in the final price; with Brian’s help, I cut the price of the job almost in half! How many contractors would help a customer pay less for a job?
Another aspect of his integrity was his “up front” honesty about how long the job would take, the cost and quality of our component choices, and the ugly reality of the inconvenience of demolition/ construction. There were no surprises during the process.
I suppose the one incident that vividly revealed Brian’s character occurred when I finished building the huge vanity/closet for the bathroom. I just couldn’t get the “scribing” of the two pieces to conform to the walls and floor, which were bowed and unlevel. Also, the two pieces weren’t coming together the way they did when dry-fitted in the garage. In desperation, I talked to Brian (on Saturday), who said, ”Don’t worry. I’ll be there Monday and help you.” He had everything installed precisely in four hours.
Thanks to Brian, we now have an incredibly beautiful, functional bathroom.
Brian’s Build-It-Right was a wise and fortunate choice for us.
— Rick & Nancy Brown, Oconomowoc, WI
Build it Right Company – Brian was great to work with. We interviewed many re-modeler’s and got quotes from a number of other companies. I am truly glad we picked Build it Right. All work was done professionally and by experts in the specific trades. Brian was honest throughout the process and kept to the schedule. Whenever we had questions or concerns, Brian was quick to respond and thorough with the answers. We are planning on doing future projects with Brian.

As an independent Kitchen & Bath Designer, I have had the opportunity to partner with Brian Blankenheim/Build It Right Carpentry and his clients on numerous projects. I have found him to be extremely detail-oriented, with a thorough understanding of the construction industry.
Brian’s other strengths include his responsiveness, and willingness to communicate details of the renovation process to his clients. He uses an online project management system to collaborate with homeowners, allowing them to see the schedule real-time, and communicate any decisions that need to be made. Brian also uses 3D architectural design software to produce high-quality plans and 3D renderings.
In addition to being a general contractor, Brian also does his own rough and finish carpentry work. Brian did much of the work in my own master bathroom remodel, and I can attest to his superior carpentry skills. He is professional, punctual, and leaves the jobsite as clean as possible. If questions arise during the project, he communicates them and offers his assessment.
I have enjoyed working with Brian and Build It Right Carpentry, and would highly recommend him to anyone considering a home building or remodeling project in the future.
— Denise Merbeth, Pewaukee, WI
We did a kitchen remodel and Build it Right was recommended to me by my designer. Would highly recommend Brian and Build It Right. Easy to work with. Reliable. Trustworthy. On time and Prices are right. Really loves what he does and does an excellent job. After our kitchen remodel we have hired Build it Right for other carpentry work in our house, we replaced all doors to six panel and replaced molding and trim. The job was done in a timely manner and was beautiful when it was complete. Will definitely be giving them a call when we are ready to do our family room. Highly recommend!
— Derek & Jackie Stebbins, Waukesha, WI
Whenever we have the need for a carpenter we call Build It Right Carpentry. Brian is reliable, honest, does quality work, and gets the job done at a fair price. He finished a basement rec. room and bathroom, has hung storm doors and cabinets, and a number of other odd jobs that we did not know how to tackle ourselves. We have recommended Brian to many friends and they were all highly satisfied with his work.
— Bob & Deb Prunty, Oconomowoc, WI
Brian at Build It Right has done 4 projects for us. He fixed the railings on our deck, installed new railings on our front porch, built and installed a mantel over our fireplace in our basement, and built and installed custom mud room lockers for our kids.
All four projects were done on time and completed with the highest quality. Brian’s attention to detail and craftsmanship can’t be beat. We were very impressed with the design of our mud room lockers because Brian didn’t have much room to work with to install the 2 lockers.
Brian was easy to work with and he answered any questions/concerns we had with our projects. We will be calling Brian at Build It Right to complete all of our future projects.
— Saun & Beth Odeja , Oconomowoc, WI
This is the second job Brian has done for us. The first was a complete renovation of our screen porch, about 3 years ago. It exceeded our expectations. Brian is a first rate carpenter.
This time, we had a Master Bath renovation. We had a pretty good idea of what we wanted ahead of time. Our ideas were completely utilized. If something wasn’t quite the way we wanted, there was always a good reason for it, and it was clearly explained. All the contractors were local, professional, highly experienced, clean-cut, personable; I didn’t mind their presence in the house at all, even if I had to leave them alone, which happened often. The schedule was maintained, and the job was finished on time, if not ahead of time.
We highly recommend Built It Right Carpentry. We would/will use them again.
— Dave & Liz Styer, Delafield, WI
Brian is always courteous and highly professional with whatever project it is that he is working on. His work is top quality and it’s always done right the first time. We had a basement finished in 2006 and Brian also installed customized cabinets in our laundry room and gave us a lot more storage – just what we needed! Brian has excellent vision when it comes to designing a project be it a new build, or a remodel.
— Klaus & Gayle Buchberger, Oconomowoc, WI
We initially contacted Brian to repair an existing deck. Although the job was very minor, he was happy to come out and look at our job. Brian was more than happy to repair our old cedar deck if we decided to go that route, but after discussing our options, we quickly decided not to repair it, but to replace the deck with Azek. We are extremely thrilled with the result!
Brian was always on time, polite, efficient, and neat. and he began the job several weeks before his estimated start date. After Brian was complete, we started looking for other projects to do because we had such confidence in his abilities. When our next remodel/repair presents itself, we will definitely call Brian first! We will gladly and confidently recommend Build it Right, and Brian, to anyone in need of his services.
— Randy and Anne, Oconomowoc, WI
“Brian has completed two construction projects in my home in 2011, not only doing the design, but also the general contracting and carpentry. I could not recommend anyone more highly than Brian. He is thoughtful, organized, thorough, communicative (which is very rare in this industry) not to mention highly skilled and comes with the most highly skilled sub-contractors.
His carpentry skills are second-to-none, as well his creativity. He drew all the plans for the renovations, and kept me abreast of the sequence and progress. The end result has been fabulous. More importantly, I intend to use Brian for all of my construction projects for the next several years until the older home I own has been updated. Of course I highly recommend Brian for any type of construction project. You will be thrilled with all facets of his work.”
— Ron & Kristy Deabler, Oconomowoc, WI
We hired Build It Right to be our general contractor for a full remodel of our 1970’s kitchen. It included a complete demo of old kitchen including cabinets, soffits, electrical, plumbing, and drywall; and installation of new cabinets, lighting, plumbing, trim, and drywall repair.
Brian, owner of Build It Right, was great to work with! He came to our home within a day of our initial call, and spent time listening to and getting information from us on what we wanted from our remodel, as well as giving suggestions to what would or wouldn’t work in our kitchen. The project was completed within the budget proposed and also within the time frame he estimated. Any “surprises” that came up along the way were handled quickly and efficiently. He always left the work area (including the garage) clean and picked up, and had a great floor to ceiling dust containment “system” that kept the dust and dirt to a minimum. As the kitchen remodel progressed, some other home projects came up that Brian was able to bid on, and consequently, complete during the remodel. These include replacing a garage service door (he also ordered the door and picked it up), replacing trim in rooms beyond kitchen, and remodeling a small bathroom. We easily and highly recommend Brian. He is extremely professional, courteous, and respectful. He is meticulous in his quality of work and attention to detail. From start to finish, Brian made this project run smoothly. We are planning on remodeling our rec room soon, and won’t hesitate a moment to hire Brian to perform the work. Thank you Brian….we love our new kitchen!

I have had the significant fortune to work with Build It Right Carpentry on several occasions.
My first encounter with Brian Blankenheim, who is the owner, was for a simple small repair to a screen in our screened porch. His work was timely, appropriately priced and performed with excellent expertise. He did not mind that this was a small job.
At this time, I had noticed some wall buckling and requested Brian to please assess this situation. He did a careful, thorough evaluation and calculated an estimate based upon painters, roofers, drywall, etc. It was Brian’s scope of knowledge and quality to detail that gave us confidence to go forth with Build It Right for this project. As the process of repair proceeded, it became apparent the significant water damage which had occurred. Brian was diligent to find and fix the source of destruction and then appropriately coordinate with the correct team to deal with mold and wetness. I was fiercely impressed with Brian’s devotion to resolution of the water damage, he even presented for work at our home on Sunday!!! This reflects his core constitution of work ethic and quality of practice. I am deeply indebted to his abilities for solution and excellent reconstruction. He aligns himself with hallmark tradesmen, who are likewise as qualified and devoted to quality work. I have confidence that the water damage will not present a problem again. This is relief. Additionally, Build It Right addressed other potential weak construction points and rectified them appropriately.
There is no question in my mind I will be requesting Build It Right for ANY big or small job that I have in the future. Once you find the best why bother on the rest?
— Coleen Rosen, Oconomowoc, WI
Brian added stairs to our existing porch this past summer. The quality and craftsmanship far exceeded our expectations. He had excellent communication regarding the timeline of the project, the best we have encountered from any contractor. The stairs have gotten many compliments from others and we look forward to having Brian do more projects around our house.
— Cory & Elizabeth Majszak, Hartland, WI
We hired Brian for a bath remodel. He came highly recommended by a friend. He responded to our initial inquiry within a day. He was over to our house within the week to discuss the project. His bid came within 48 hours after we met with him. He started our job sooner than was expected and finished right on schedule. His work was excellent and he kept his work area very neat. All the trades he hired were professional, respectful and did an excellent job. I would not hesitate to hire Brian for another home project.
— Dave & Kathy Van Thiel, Hartland, WI
Brian of BIRC does an excellent job and I would highly recommend him for any project you have. While other contractors don’t always offer the best customer service, Brian is an exception. He provides A+ service and no job is too big or too small.
— Dave & Lauri Grooman, Sullivan, WI
Hired Brian to install a skylight for us and had him back for three more projects.
He installed a composite deck, built and installed a mantle for our fireplace that hid all the cables from our TV, and built and installed book shelves in my husband’s office.
Brian is very professional with reasonable quotes. He is a timely, hard worker. Area was always very neat and clean at the end of the day even if the project was not done yet.
Highly recommend him for any small or large project.
— Jerry & Dona Seefeldt, Dousman,WI
Brian Blankenheim/Build It Right successfully performed and/or contracted several jobs to rennovate our aging condominium, including new bathroom tile floors and fixtures, kitchen counter tops, sink and fixtures, granite top for dining room cabinet, refinishing damaged bedroom window sills with handsome custom made replacements, replacing old metal closet doors with handsome custom made natural finished oak doors (which he subsequently (a year later) adjusted free of charge, relocating alarge dining room chandelier and repairing and painting the ceiling as necessary. Brian is a highly skilled carpenter and craftsman himself and provided very satisfactory assisting workers and sub-contractors, whom he carefully selected and supervised. He was personable, pleasant and trustworthy to work with, sensitive to our budgetary needs and personal tastes and scheduling requirements and able to make creative suggestions. We would be eager to ask his assistance again should the need arise and would give him our highest recommendations.
— George & Doris Kimball, Oconomowoc, WI
Brian was honest, genuine and professional from start to finish. I greatly appreciated his ability to communicate what was needed and what would be overkill to keep costs down. I trust Build It Right Carpentry for my future home needs. His rates were very reasonable and he worked efficiently. Everything was done the right way, no shortcuts taken. I’m very impressed at his knowledge base and workmanship in our home.
— Kyle Ferroly, Oconomowoc, WI
Thanks for all of your long, hard work on our deck. It is awesome and better than we ever expected. We are lucky to have found you to do the job. Your helper was a great guy too.
I will call you without hesitation when we go forward with our bath project. Any recommendations I give will be a 10*’s +.
You just don’t find decent, conscientious workers anymore but we struck gold.
Thanks again for everything Brian.
— Greg & Corinne Miller, Oconomowoc, WI
We had two bathrooms remodeled by this company. New counters, tub, toilets, glass door, ceramic tile on walls and floors, and beautiful oak trim was installed. Although there were some plumbing obstacles that stood in the way, Brian was able to work with the contractor to find a solution that was cost effective and kept the project moving along. Both bathrooms look beautiful. Every contractor was courteous, polite, and clean.
— Mark & Bonnie Cohn, Waukesha, WI
Brian at Build It Right Carpentry has completed several different remodeling/construction projects at each of our homes. We have found Brian to be the most knowledgeable, timely, and responsible contractor we have ever worked with. Brian shows up or calls when he says he will. We have found this is rarely the case when dealing with contractors. All of the projects we have had Brian finish have been done on time, on budget and look perfect. Brian works at a feverish pace and never cuts any corners. My wife and I know Brian’s work added value to our home and made the space much more enjoyable. I would recommend Brian without hesitation for any home contracting needs. Just a couple of the projects completed by Build it Right for us: 6′ cedar privacy fence, installed kitchen island, complete half bath remodel (down to the studs), fireplace hearth remodel on a 1920’s home including rebuilding the foundation and support structure from the basement, and adding wall trim and shoe molding.
— Chet & Shanon Hendrickson, Wauwatosa, WI
It was a very satisfying experience working with Brian Blankenheim during our four-season Sun Room Remodeling project from the very beginning to the end. His organizational skills were extremely helpful during the planning and construction phase. He was one of the most organized contractors that I have ever worked with. Not only did he demonstrate the professional attitude and knowledge that one would expect from a contractor, he delivered a final product that exceeded my wife and I expectations. We couldn’t be happier with our new sunroom. Brian truly did “Built-It-Right”.
— Tom and Sheila Robak, Delafield, WI
We were completely delighted in our deck. Brian was up front about when he would be here, when not, and gave us a realistic completion date, and stayed within it. Our building inspector had many nice things to say about the construction quality. He said “your house will blow away before this deck does”. We were so delighted with his service that we have already hired him to do a bathroom in our basement. When sharing thoughts for ideas or changes to plan, Brian says most often “No worries. We can make it happen”. Or “I want to make this happen for you.” Just the thing a customer wants to hear. Brian’s Christian attitude shines brightly, and God certainly blesses the work of his hands.
— Jim & Sandi Jones, Oconomowoc, WI
I had Build It Right Carpentry Inc. do a family room and office built in our basement area. I am very pleased with the whole experience as it was well planned and explained as the project was being done. I was very happy with the ending project and would use him and his contractors again.
— Mark & Judy Bednarek, Germantown, WI
We hired Brian with Build It Right Carpentry to finish our basement. We couldn’t have made a better decision. Since our initial meeting, Brian was thorough, punctual, and professional. Brian helped us set realistic goals that were aligned with our budget and completed the work in the specified amount of time. Throughout the process, we always felt informed as to what was going to happen next and who would be visiting our home. He was honest, kind and even took time to say hi to our kids each time he came to do work. At the end of our project, our daughter even gave him a hug! Brian with Build It Right Carpentry has our highest recommendations.
— Ken and Jalynn Krueger., Milwaukee, WI
We had Build It Right do some work in our kitchen (microwave above stove, electrical, etc) and had a very positive experience working with Brian (and his team). He was honest, hard-working, gave us a reasonable price and stood behind his work. When I shared a concern about the size of the cupboard he built – he thought about it, and came back with revisions we could both be happy about. I will certainly use Build It Right for my next home-improvement project. I have already recommended Build It Right to friends.
— Jeanne Brostowitz, Eagle, WI
Excellent job and cleanup. Great communication.
— Brian Nuernberg, Saukville, WI
We chose Build It Right because Brian is personable, honest and very knowledgeable. We also liked the company’s client’s portal which kept us informed with what was going on with the project, the budget etc. We ended up with a beautiful new tiled shower and would certainly hire Build It Right for any future projects. They truly build it right!
— Tim and Carrie Handler, Menomonee Falls, WI
Build It Right came highly recommended by my general contractor when we were doing an addition to our home. As part of our addition, we gave the rest of our home a face lift as well. We contacted Brian, to give us a bid. He was professional, arrived on time (which after doing our addition and working with contractors in every field, we learned that to be a rare quality of a contractor), and was very knowledgeable on his trade. We contracted him to do a very extensive job which included installing all new windows, removing and installing all new base and shoe molding, installing 2 exterior doors, and 2 screen doors, stalling a garage door, window casing on all the new windows, installing custom cabinets, and designing and installing 2 custom walk in closets. In addition, Brian fixed some door and window installments that were done incorrectly by our previous carpenter who worked on our addition. He also completed some finish carpentry that was not completed (or done incorrectly) from our previous contractor. This proved that he not only was skilled in his own work, but could take inadequate work from someone else and figure out a solution to bring it up to standard. He also pointed out things we had not noticed and took it upon himself to correct because that was just part of his work ethic. He was always prompt and completed the work in the scheduled time promised.
I would highly recommend Brian/Build It Right to do any degree of carpentry work. I have recommended him to friends and relatives who have used him and were happy with his work as well.
Although the bulk of the work was completed in June of 2011, we have worked with Brian several times since, and parts of the project were done in phases, so we have continued to work with Brian over a course of 3 years, and continue to contact him when we have jobs arise.
— Rose Zarske, Brookfield, WI
