We had our bathroom remodeled by Build It Right Carpentry and were very pleased with the results. Brian, the company owner, was fantastic throughout the entire process. When he came out to give an estimate, he was right on time and spent time taking measurements, answering my questions, and offering suggestions when I asked for his opinion. Once we decided to go with his company, Brian arranged for his contractors to come out so they could price out the work. He met the contractors and me at the arranged time and they were all very timely. Once everything was priced, Brian set up a schedule online so I could view what work was going to be done and when. Brian was on site during the job much of the time and was phenomenal at keeping me updated and answering my questions throughout the project. Anytime I emailed him with a question, Brian got back to me extremely fast (most of the time it was within the hour, but never longer than 12 hours). We had one issue of a contractor accidently putting a small scratch in our marble vanity top when installing a faucet and when I made Brian aware of it, he got back to me immediately saying he would talk to his contractor. When I got home from work the next day, the scratch was gone. Brian had hired a solid surface repair specialist to sand and polish the scratch out. I was very impressed as this was done the day after the scratch occured. The finished bathroom looks great! Brian has earned my trust and Build It Right Carpentry will be the company I call for any future remodeling jobs.

We needed an extensive remodeling of our only bathroom right down to the studs and structure. Since we are rather new in town, the first problem was finding a reasonable, effective (quick), and thoughtful (creative) general contractor.

Fortunately, through the YMCA, I’d come to know quite well the owner of a well-established HVAC company in town. He knew someone perfect for the job: his brother-in-law, Brian Blankenheim, owner of Build-It-Right Construction.

I was very impressed right from the first phone call. Brian set up a simple procedure protocol, the first of which was to meet with my wife and me to inspect the site and ask us for our ideas and plans. At that meeting, he also set up an on-line demolition/building (sub-contractor) schedule.

Since I needed to keep costs down, Brian suggested a number of jobs I could do and gave tips to expedite them. My numerous phone calls were answered quickly, in a detailed manner, and with assurance — it was nice to know “he had my back.” His integrity was reflected in the final price; with Brian’s help, I cut the price of the job almost in half! How many contractors would help a customer pay less for a job?

Another aspect of his integrity was his “up front” honesty about how long the job would take, the cost and quality of our component choices, and the ugly reality of the inconvenience of demolition/ construction. There were no surprises during the process.

I suppose the one incident that vividly revealed Brian’s character occurred when I finished building the huge vanity/closet for the bathroom. I just couldn’t get the “scribing” of the two pieces to conform to the walls and floor, which were bowed and unlevel. Also, the two pieces weren’t coming together the way they did when dry-fitted in the garage. In desperation, I talked to Brian (on Saturday), who said, ”Don’t worry. I’ll be there Monday and help you.” He had everything installed precisely in four hours.

Thanks to Brian, we now have an incredibly beautiful, functional bathroom.

Build It Right came highly recommended by my general contractor when we were doing an addition to our home. As part of our addition, we gave the rest of our home a face lift as well. We contacted Brian, to give us a bid. He was professional, arrived on time (which after doing our addition and working with contractors in every field, we learned that to be a rare quality of a contractor), and was very knowledgeable on his trade. We contracted him to do a very extensive job which included installing all new windows, removing and installing all new base and shoe molding, installing 2 exterior doors, and 2 screen doors, stalling a garage door, window casing on all the new windows, installing custom cabinets, and designing and installing 2 custom walk in closets. In addition, Brian fixed some door and window installments that were done incorrectly by our previous carpenter who worked on our addition. He also completed some finish carpentry that was not completed (or done incorrectly) from our previous contractor. This proved that he not only was skilled in his own work, but could take inadequate work from someone else and figure out a solution to bring it up to standard. He also pointed out things we had not noticed and took it upon himself to correct because that was just part of his work ethic. He was always prompt and completed the work in the scheduled time promised.

I would highly recommend Brian/Build It Right to do any degree of carpentry work. I have recommended him to friends and relatives who have used him and were happy with his work as well.

Although the bulk of the work was completed in June of 2011, we have worked with Brian several times since, and parts of the project were done in phases, so we have continued to work with Brian over a course of 3 years, and continue to contact him when we have jobs arise.

We hired Build It Right to be our general contractor for a full remodel of our 1970’s kitchen. It included a complete demo of old kitchen including cabinets, soffits, electrical, plumbing, and drywall; and installation of new cabinets, lighting, plumbing, trim, and drywall repair.

Brian, owner of Build It Right, was great to work with!  He came to our home within a day of our initial call, and spent time listening to and getting information from us on what we wanted from our remodel, as well as giving suggestions to what would or wouldn’t work in our kitchen. The project was completed within the budget proposed and also within the time frame he estimated. Any “surprises” that came up along the way were handled quickly and efficiently. He always left the work area (including the garage) clean and picked up, and had a great floor to ceiling dust containment “system” that kept the dust and dirt to a minimum. As the kitchen remodel progressed, some other home projects came up that Brian was able to bid on, and consequently, complete during the remodel. These include replacing a garage service door (he also ordered the door and picked it up), replacing trim in rooms beyond kitchen, and remodeling a small bathroom. We easily and highly recommend Brian. He is extremely professional, courteous, and respectful. He is meticulous in his quality of work and attention to detail. From start to finish, Brian made this project run smoothly. We are planning on remodeling our rec room soon, and won’t hesitate a moment to hire Brian to perform the work. I have had the significant fortune to work with Build It Right Carpentry on several occasions.

My first encounter with Brian Blankenheim, who is the owner, was for a simple small repair to a screen in our screened porch. His work was timely, appropriately priced and performed with excellent expertise. He did not mind that this was a small job.

At this time, I had noticed some wall buckling and requested Brian to please assess this situation. He did a careful, thorough evaluation and calculated an estimate based upon painters, roofers, drywall, etc. It was Brian’s scope of knowledge and quality to detail that gave us confidence to go forth with Build It Right for this project.  As the process of repair proceeded, it became apparent the significant water damage which had occurred. Brian was diligent to find and fix the source of destruction and then appropriately coordinate with the correct team to deal with mold and wetness. I was fiercely impressed with Brian’s devotion to resolution of the water damage, he even presented for work at our home on Sunday!!! This reflects his core constitution of work ethic and quality of practice. I am deeply indebted to his abilities for solution and excellent reconstruction. He aligns himself with hallmark tradesmen, who are likewise as qualified and devoted to quality work.  I have confidence that the water damage will not present a problem again. This is relief. Additionally, Build It Right addressed other potential weak construction points and rectified them appropriately.

There is no question in my mind I will be requesting Build It Right for ANY big or small job that I have in the future. Once you find the best why bother on the rest?
