Meet the Owner: Brian Blankenheim
When Brian and Tammy Blankenheim started Build It Right Remodeling, they wanted to restore something that was missing in the remodeling industry: craftsmanship, care, and communication.
Brian began his career in 1996 as a Union Apprentice Carpenter with Local 344 in Pewaukee. He graduated valedictorian of his class in 2001, earning his title as a Journeyman Carpenter. Those early years taught him what it means to take a project from start to finish the right way, starting with a solid foundation and ending with flawless finishes.
When the economy slowed in 2009, Brian and his wife, Tammy, took a leap of faith and launched their own business. What began as a way for Brian to stay connected to the craft he loved soon evolved into their shared life’s work, helping homeowners reimagine their spaces with honesty, creativity, and precision. Today, Build It Right Remodeling proudly serves Waukesha County and the surrounding areas, combining decades of hands-on craftsmanship with modern design tools and advanced construction technology.

How Our Process Works
We understand that remodeling can feel overwhelming—that’s why our process is built around clarity and communication. From the first contact to the final walkthrough, you’ll always know what’s happening and what comes next.
Step 1: Discovery Call
Once you submit the contact form, you will receive an email to schedule a Discovery Call that works for you to see if we’re the right fit.
- Share your vision, style, and must-have features.
- Discuss goals, functionality, and finishes.
- Establish your wants, needs, and budget.
- Learn what to expect from our design and build process.
- By the end of this call, you will have a clear understanding of how we work and your next steps.
Step 2: Meeting Day (No Charge)
We meet onsite to explore your project in detail.
- Take digital measurements using RENDR or TWINDO and gather photos.
- Discuss realistic budget ranges and design possibilities.
- Review a rough 2D layout and estimate range.
- To move forward with the Design & Project Development Agreement (DPDA), we collect a 3% design fee based on the higher end of the anticipated estimate range.
Step 3: Design Plans for Review & Approval
Here’s where your vision becomes tangible.
- Receive multiple 3D renderings created in Chief Architect.
- Review floor plans, elevations, and selection options.
- You'll see exactly how your finished space will look and feel, so there will be no surprises once construction starts.
- To move forward, plans are approved by you, and now we can set up pricing.
Step 4: Site Visit & Walkthrough With Trade Partners & Detailed Proposal
Next, we dive into the technical details that keep your project running smoothly.
- Conduct detailed measurements of your space.
- Walk through your project with our trusted trade partners.
- Provide a curated list of suppliers for your selections.
- Connect you with a designer if you'd like help choosing materials.
- This phase ensures every trade, finish, and selection aligns with your goals before construction begins.
- Get a clear, itemized proposal with pricing and a rough timeline.
Step 5: The Remodel Begins
Your remodel is fully managed from start to finish through JobTread, our construction management system.
- Create a timeline for your project, start to finish
- Track progress and communicate with our team online.
- View your project calendar and daily updates.
- Confirm any changes or final selections.
Final Walkthrough & Warranty
When your remodel is complete, we’ll walk through the space together to make sure every detail meets your expectations. Your project is also backed by a one-year workmanship warranty, giving you peace of mind long after the last tool is packed up.
